I FINALLY GET IT!! PICASSO AND HIS WORK.

Juan-les-Pins, 1924
Yesterday, my friend and I went into Seattle to the see a landmark exhibition of the work of Pablo Picasso at the Seattle Art Museum. What a "once in a lifetime experience"! Drawn from the collection of the Musee National Picasso in Paris-which holds the largest and most important works of the artist in the world, they lent out 150 paintings, sculptures, prints and photographs to go on tour here in the U.S.. This was all due to the museum in Paris being refurbished.

One of the things I learned, was that the reason why some of his work didn't make sense to me. Like why some of the faces and bodies look different or hard to understand. It was because he wanted the pictures to be 2 dimensional, so half of a face, might be painted straight on, then the other half would be their side view. GENIUS.

As I saw all the different mediums he used and tried, and the history of the world at the time,it all made so much sense! For the first time I understand his wonderful work. My soul has been filled. My appreciation for the saying "he was the most influential artist in the world" has totally sunk into my brain. He could of just painted the old oil and canvas, or drawings that look like a photograph, but he didn't, he went and explored all the different forms of art and created his own style. I have to say I am totally thrilled to finally "get it". There was so much more I learned and understood about his work, but I have not the time or desire to go on. It's like my soul is still savoring what it has been fed, and I don't want to interrupt the feeling or knowledge learned.
