TRYING SOMETHING NEW

Do you remember me showing you my Sedona, AZ mini wall quilt I made. That little piece was all hand sewn and pieced together. This time I thought I would do a different type of landscaping quilt.

First, I  cut out what looked like the Aspen Trees that we had seen on our trip to the Quinault National Area. Using white paint to the trees to add a little more detail to the bark, then used a Sharpie pen (poster size) to add even more detail to the bark.

Using a glue stick to tack all the pieces onto a variegated piece of green material. I also used a variegated piece of brown material to add boulders and rocks to the scene

Then with pastel cream crayons I colored in shadows for the trees and rocks. I also added different greens and a variety of materials to add depth to the background.
Now I'm going to try and use the sewing machine to add more details, while trying to sew down all my little iddie biddie pieces of material, along with the trees and see how it come out. This darn little quilt has taken me all week to do this much.Because like all us moms we have to do it between , meetings, and our everyday housework. So hopefully I'll finish this project next week. I'm actually excited to see how it will turn out.
