MY VERY OWN DOLL-THRIFTY TUESDAY

When I was a little girl,I lived down the street from my aunt and uncle, who had a daughter named Candy, just a few months older than myself. My aunt was a successful real estate agent, and would take my cousin Candy and I with her to check out properties, locations, and do errands with us in tow. Of course, Dairy Queen was always a must on the list of  "To Do's".  What great memories I have of those days and going on these little adventures.
My sweet father worked very hard to support our family, my mom was a SAHM, which gave us a very tight budget. My cousin Candy always had the latest record albums (boy, that dates me), clothes, and toys, and not to mention she had a pair of white 'go-go boots'.  The only time I got toys, was for Christmas and birthdays, so when these troll dolls came out, I didn't have any. My cousin on the other hand had quite a few. When we would go with my aunt, we would sit in the back seat of her newest fancy Cadillac, playing ,eating and listening to the radio. as we drove along. Good times, good times. I so remember playing with these troll dolls in that back seat with my cousin. I loved these little trolls.
Well, on one of my usual thrift store haunts on Tuesday's I spotted these, and yes I bought all three of them. Since I am a redhead, I kept the wild red-haired one for me. I'm not sure what I'll do with the bigger one with purple hair, but I am sending my sweet cousin the blue-haired one. These are in the original packages, and as you can see they were only $2.99 each. FINALLY, I have my own Treasure Troll!

  1. Haha, yeah! I am glad you finally got you some troll dolls :) Better late than never. There is something so creepy yet endearing about these little guys. I think you should call up your cousin Candy to rub it in her face, lol. Just kidding!

  3. I still have my troll from the 60's! Like you our family had a light budget and I had to save my pennies to get my troll. I made clothes for her and even sold some clothes to my friends. Her hair was white and she is nearly bald now!

  6. I just found a troll (not a Treasure Troll) on my first thrift outing of this season. It has bright fuscia hair. No clothes, so I may have to make some. I do remember many happy hours with trolls during summer vacations. I think besides Christmas and birthdays we each got one toy duing our annual camping trip.

  8. Isn't it funny how we all remembered the go-go boats?! Ya know, I also never remembered wearing a seat belt. But, I don't remember being in a car accident either. How times have changed.

  13. I still have some Troll dolls and my Troll doll house (grandkids play with it now) Who knew something like that would appeal to kids back then? Great marketing, I'm sure.

  14. Marjory,
Its lisa again, I got knocked off line when my son decided to get online on one of the other computers. I was in the middle of reading your post on your dolls I love them too. Before my mother passed away and was able to travel to yard sales she found me 3 that she knew that I didn't have and she wrapped them up and surprised me with them. They all had yellow hair. she knew I only collected the ones with yellow hair I still have them. she was so tickled, I'm glad there are others that love them as much as I do...
